On this walk, we fill follow the Severn Beach Heritage Trail. At one time, Severn Beach was a thriving resort for day-trippers and holiday-makers. But those days are long gone. Nowadays, this has become more of an archaeological attraction, with only the remains of what used to be there.
Along the way, we will see the The Purton Hulks (or Purton Ships’ Graveyard) which is a number of abandoned boats and ships, deliberately beached beside the River Severn near Purton in Gloucestershire, to reinforce the river banks. Encircling Junction 18 of the M4 without going particularly near it, this walk takes us from Tormarton, through Doddington Park to Coomb's End, then down to Hinton before covering a short section of the Cotswold Way and back to Tormarton.
A circular walk starting in Mells. The walk has 2 halves, the first being a shady section along the Mells Stream. The second half is fields and lanes, with far-reaching views across to Cley Hill and the White Horse.
