Nine walkers set off under leaden skies through the village of Sherston. Turning left, up what looked like someone’s gravel drive, to reach a field. The walk continued along a couple of tracks before crossing the Tetbury road to enter Westonbirt Arboretum through a gate.
We followed the footpaths through the trees before heading uphill and around the edge of the Arboretum, passing 2 groups of horses, who didn’t like polo mints.
We passed the entrance to Westonbirt school before settling down for lunch at their golf course.
Our return was via a long bridleway before emerging on a road which led us back to our cars.
A lovely walk enjoying the beautiful autumn colours of the trees.
A map! Fantastic! It shows how we went in through the “back door” of Westonbirt Arboretum which we did without having to pay (provided we didn’t stop – which we didn’t, officially). We went clockwise starting at Sherston.
Fantastic walk, thanks very much
