Strollers walk – Saturday, 19th June 2021

We went on a walk at Chew Stoke village, and there were 14 of us altogether, including 7 new members. Several members had never been there before. After coffee, Barbara – a new member – told us about Bilbie Bells, 550 of which were made in Chew Stoke. Remarkably, the population there is 900 – the same size as in the 1700’s. It’s an ancient village with a Pagans Way road, a Pilgrims road (from Bristol to Glastonbury), a church with 155 angels in the ceiling, an early 1700s school, the River Chew, and a very large village field. We all began with coffee and 5 of us had lunch together in Saltford. Our new members enjoyed it !!
