This was a gentle 9-mile walk from Lacock to Chippenham and back, with no significant hills and some interesting features. There were just 5 of us this time, and it was enjoyed by all who came along.

We followed the river for quite a bit of the route, as can be seen from the map. Not quite so obvious from the map was that we also followed a section of the Wilts & Berks Canal. This is still in the process of being restored, and we walked as far as the Pewsham locks, which are still very much in a state of being rebuilt.
For a change, we found a truly civilised place to stop, where there was a table and benches that we could all sit round. So afterwards, we took a group selfie.

We had one slight inconvenience as we made our way round: one of our number’s boots had an internal disagreement with itself, and the upper and lower halves tried to go their separate ways.

As a fully-qualified nurse, Julie duly stepped in with her first aid kit and bound up the injured boot. The boot then made it all the way to the end without the need for further adjustment. As the Bible says, “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their sole?”
The biblical quote made me smile. Well Done!
Hi all looks like you had a good walk Saturday morning. Sorry I missed it currently away on holiday in Snowdonia for the week.
Paul, like the improvised boot repair!!!
