Four of us started this walk in Wells and made our way uphill and then downhill to Wookey Hole. From here, we battled the (expected!) mud and water before entering the Ebor Gorge nature reserve. A steep set of steps took us to the top of the gorge through woodland and a carpet of spring flowers — Wood Anemones, as identified by Julie’s phone app! From the top of the gorge, we walked across the very windy top of the Mendips to pass the television mast. From here, we crossed the road and walked downhill through the woods before stopping for lunch at a lovely spot by two streams. Our walk then took us back to Wells, passing through South Horrington before reaching Wells Cathedral in what turned out to be a lovely sunny afternoon.
Sounds like a lovely route, and your boots stayed clean(ish)
The cleanish boots were due to walking through some long grass. Before that, they were caked.
looks great fun – well done. I must get walking again! Rosamund has damaged foot at moment, but that doesn’t excuse me!
