Winter wonderland: a double walk

Today, we did a walk entitled “Clutton Infinity”, and it was a walk in two parts, shaped like a figure-of-8 on its side on the map. We started and ended each section at St. Augustine’s church in Clutton. When we started, the car said it was -3ºC — just a little bit on the chilly side. It did supposedly get above freezing, but the ground remained largely frozen, except where the sun had melted the ice. Actually, that was a blessing in some places, where the mud would have otherwise been quite soft.

6 out of 7 of us on the 3 Peaks Walk

For most of the first section, which was clocked at 5.7 miles by one of us with a sophisticated watch, it was quite misty, but this added to beauty of the scenery.

For the second section, 4 of us remained, and we climbed a long steep hill which took us out of the mist into the sunshine. That wasn’t to say it wasn’t still a bit icy underfoot, but none of us slipped. Combined, it took us up to 10 miles, or just under, depending on whose phone you believe.

A good time was had by all, and some of us even got warm enough to take off hats and gloves.
