Walk leader: David Godden
Six of us joined the walk today, starting at Willsbridge Mill. We began the walk following the Siston Brook stream, through the woods of the Willsbridge Valley. In the 19th century, the valley was used for milling, quarrying and a coal dramway. Now, it is a beautiful oasis of wildlife amongst a modern housing estate ….with a very nice cafe, where we had coffee and cake to start our walk.

Following the Siston Brook to the River Avon, we continued our walk alongside the River Avon. (Slightly precarious at times along a slippery path). We walked through Swineford to Upton Cheyney, stopping for lunch and then heading through fields with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

…and then down to the railway path at Oldland Common.

Walking alongside Dorris, the diesel train, we headed back to Willsbridge. A beautiful walk in the sunshine, exploring new paths. A great day.

Excellent write-up and lovely photos. It was a great walk.
Congratulations to Dave G for providing us with a walk at short notice. We couldn’t complain about the weather as we had a lovely day. I also praise Julie for her excellent write-up. I wouldn’t have had clue where we were.
