There were just 8 of us on our walk this time. We met outside Staverton Primary School on the northern tip of Trowbridge. We made our way northwards across the fields, passing near Holt and on to Bradford Leigh. From there we skirted round the new extension to Cumberwell Golf Course before joining the MacMillan Way back through the golf course and down the hill to Bradford-on-Avon itself.
After lunch at the Tithes Barn, we headed back along the river and then along the canal to Staverton. The very last bit involved navigating our way through the labyrinth of a modern housing estate, which we managed this time without the need to ask the way form a child who was obviously a pupil at the primary school (as we did when we pre-walked it).
There were plenty of views along the way, particularly going down the hill into Bradford-on-Avon. This walk is highly recommended for anyone else who wants to try it, although it has to be said that the some of footpaths in that area are not as well-maintained as they could be, and you need to know where you are going. We managed just one minor error, which set us back only a few minutes despite this.
