On a beautiful sunny and warm day, 14 of us set out from the pretty Cotswolds village of Biddeston. Leaving the exploration of the village until last, we passed the old church where we were treated to a little of its history courtesy of the local map, and continued out of the village and across the fields to the delightful hamlet of Slaughterford where the usual By Brook was more of a raging river. Along the the lanes and passing another beautiful old church we eventually reached the White Hart pub at Ford. We didn’t stop!
Along the fortunately very quiet road, we turned off into the field and followed the By Brook again for some time. This is where we stopped for our coffee, lunch and chocolate eggs. After renewing our energy with lunch, we continued back to Slaughterford and followed the lane uphill, very muddy, and eventually back to Biddeston, where our Amblers were free to wander round the beautiful village, duck pond and visit the local pub for lunch.
