The Met Office weather man says it will still be chucking it down when we are due to start the walk, having been raining heavily all night – though it will probably clear up not long afterwards. In addition, the recent heavy rains means that various places are flooded.
The walk was pre-walked when it was much drier, and there is a significant chance that parts of the walk may be impassable due to localised deep puddles.
So, it has been decided to cancel the walk. We will reschedule this walk for 11th November this year.
This is a bit disappointing, especially as this is the second year in a row that we have had to cancel the January walk due to heavy rain.
On the bright side, reservoirs like Chew Valley Lake will be filling up after last summer’s drought.
On a final note, this photo was taken this morning in Saltford. It is actually a road, not a river:
Not a surprise after the rain we’ve had, at least the AGM will be dry!
