Saturday was expected to be rainy and dull, but despite that 5 Amblers, led by Nigel H met at Swineford picnic car park for a 5-mile walk. We started off along the river towards the Lockeeper Inn at Keynsham and continued following the river until we came to Londonderry Farm. Our walk took us across a field full of cows and one huge bull, thankfully friendly, to cross the main road and onto another footpath eventually leading to the back of the Bristol Reptile Emporium on the Bitton Road. Crossing this road we arrived at Avon Valley Railway coffee shop for a hot drink sitting in their small garden. After our welcome refreshments we took the railway path, waving to the children aboard the train on the way, back towards Saltford until we reached the steps to the house where Noel Edmonds once lived, where we were once more in fields walking towards St Mary’s Church Bitton. Continuing on we finally arrived back to the car park without having been rained on!
I’d love to do that sometime. Keep me informed. X
